The Amanda Byatt Care Foundation
Carol set up the Amanda Byatt Care Foundation in her daughter Amanda's memory after Amanda died on 15th May 2010. Amanda was lucky to have a supportive and caring family around her and as Carol has her own company Amanda was able to go to work with her every day, however, for other families the situation is much harder.
The Foundation has been set up along strict guidelines and has official recognition of the local Community Volunteer Services. It is a non-profit, non-government organization. We need to raise £5000 all of which will go directly to people in need. As soon as we have raised £5000 the ABCF can be registered with the UK Charities Commission. This will enable the ABCF to apply for grants and donations from larger charities and trusts so we can do more for local needs. We have already received donations from local businesses and individuals both monetary and material. Thank you to our local STARS.
The Foundation is fundraising so they can help in all sorts of ways. From practical help, being on the end of the phone for a chat or to give something that would make either the persons stay in hospital or their families a bit more bearable.
Most people with special needs love anything visual so the foundation will be providing magazines, books and portable DVD players for the duration of their stay in hospital. The foundation also hopes to provide Camp beds so carers who are not currently catered for within the NHS can stay at the hospital more comfortably.

How can the Amanda Byatt Care Foundation help you?
The Foundation cannot offer medical advice but they can offer support, knowledge and understanding. If you have a learning disability and are in hospital we may be able to help you and your carers by funding things such as;
- Television rental
- A bunch of flowers to cheer you up
- A magazine, puzzle or game
- Some of the travel costs of carers
As well as other requests that the Amanda Byatt Care Foundation will consider on an individual basis.
